Rick Lang
MEET RICK LANG
A HORSEMAN FIRST,
A HANDICAPPER SECOND,
A WINNER ALWAYS!
Rick Lang made his name and his fame as one of the winningest public handicappers in the history of the NY Post and Daily Racing Form. These days, you can see him on the AM Saratoga TV shows when that meeting is in session, which he sandwiches around his duties as official NY OTB Handicapper.
His credentials are impeccable. He has been hosted television shows from Monmouth Park and the Meadowlands in New Jersey, tracks where he also worked as the official morning line maker, been the public handicapper for the Bergen Record and Asbury Park Press in New Jersey and hosted national racing seminars, teaching regular horse players how to pick winners.
And, his knowledge has translated into handicapping success. Lang has again and again proven he is one of the very best racing analysts in the country and finished third twice in the World series of Handicapping before besting 350 other players in the New Haven Handicapping Challenge. He also won the 2002 Aqueduct Handicapping Challenge over 201 other opponents.
Because of his knowledge, he was tapped to make a video with John Patrick on the art of interpreting the Racing Form, a must see show for any up and coming racing fan.
BUT, THAT'S JUST A SPIN OFF FROM HIS ORIGINAL CAREER!
But, what sets Rick Lang apart from the field of handicappers and pundits, even the best, is that Rick Lang did his apprenticeship as a hands-on horseman, not as a numbers cruncher in a room far from the race track. Lang learned horses from some of the best in the business, including legendary trainers Tommy "TK" Kelly, John Tammaro and Arnold Winnick, for years the leading conditioner on the Florida circuit.
Other guys know "numbers."
Rick Lang knows horses.
Rick Lang knows why horses get bandages on. He knows the difference between front wraps and rundowns. He knows how to train horses. Because of that, Rick Lang knows the signs that point out a horse is ready to run its best race.
Other guys don't know a forelock from a fetlock. Rick Lang can tell you when a horse is sore and needs a break. Other guys try to project a "number" for horses using a combination of pseudo-mathematics and mumbo-jumbo. Rick Lang knows that numbers can never actually take into account whether a horse is going to wake up wanting to run today or whether he left his race on the track during his last workout.
Rick Lang knows things other handicappers don't know because he's done the hands on training that other handicappers have only read about. As a licensed assistant trainer, trainer and then owner, Rick Lang paid his dues.
And, he's been up close and personal with the most fantastic racing achievement of all - chasing the Kentucky Derby. Lang was involved in the team with Hold Your Peace, who won the Flamingo Stakes when it was a major Triple Crown Prep and who went on to run third in the Kentucky Derby.
Ask any other handicapper even those named John, Mike, Jim or Harry if they can say that. They can't!
That's why Rick Lang should be your private turf consultant.
He knows horses. The other guys don't.
Do you want to trust you investments to guys who come up with a number out of thin air or a proven horseman who know what makes horses win and when they are ready to win?
